At Reverse Records we strive to build a future where the world of music is closer to the hearts of fans than ever before. To shape what kind of company we are building along the way, we recently got together as a team and aligned on our company values. These values inform our decision-making process and our interactions with the world around us.
Imagine you’re a musician gearing up to write a song. You have a vision in mind, a central theme the song should address. It could be the longing for a faraway friend, the sadness you felt at a personal loss, or the feeling you had when you scored your first goal in an official football match.
This vision is your North Star, and you can probably think of a way to plant that emotion in the hearts of your listeners. It might be a striking melody, or a chorus that keeps evolving in your head. With this method, you make it your Mission to share your song’s central Vision.
These are two fairly big concepts that – when defined and articulated in your head – will bring you significantly closer to writing a killer song. But what you end up filling those lines with, the words that will form your verses, the beats that will carry the song through to its emotional end – they will be informed by something much greater than your Vision and Mission. They will be informed by your Values, a reflection of how you see the world.
At Reverse Records, we recognize the important role culture and overarching Values hold in the making or breaking of a company. Values inform every decision we make, every interaction with our fans, partners, artists, or future employees. And because we are more than one individual, we had to get together and align on the Values we want Reverse Records to stand for.
After a good discussion and some philosophical explorations into the nature of human thought in a world shaped by the ebb-and-flow of sound, we settled on the following 5 Values – read a little more about what we mean by these values and why we decided to highlight them:
Let us know what you think about our Values! Did we get it right? Is something missing, or did we simply get too spaced out among the soundwaves of existence?
